If the payor is behind, they will possibly have accumulated a 'huge' sum which they cannot pay, but could now resume regular payment of a sum superior to the one that previously went in arrears.
An obvious example of this could be the result of an illness or due to a (successful) job change which may have created short term 'cash low challenge'.
Increase the monthly payments, restructure to tack the arrearage on the end of the note ... find a solution that makes for a win/win.
