Best way to find a few good notes?

I've got a few 100k in a self-directed IRA that I want to invest in notes. Pursuing a full-blown note marketing/finding education seems overkill since I'm not looking to do this full-time or become a note broker, etc. I'm just looking to buy a few notes for my own portfolio. Can anyone suggest the best and/or most efficient way to get started with this? Should I focus my efforts on hooking up with a few good brokers/finders/bird dogs, or ??

I am looking to learn as much as I can about the note business in general, and tweaking notes to make them more profitable, etc. as a long term goal, but at this point I just want to find a few good notes to buy. Thanks!
