Calling Into Board of Realtors MLS Computer

I am going through the many articles and in the How To Pay Full Price And Profit ariticle, it mentions 'plugging into your computer modem and calling into the mls computer'. Can you tell me how to do this please? I am not currently an agent but I was at one time, and fortunately i still have my access code to go into our statewide mls system. But if i can get into the mls otherwise, i would prefer to do it that way because i'm not certain how much longer my access code would be available for my use. Then further below in the article it mentions getting to know an agent if you are not one already. Are you talking about the hyperterminal bbs program that comes with my windows program or doing it the normal way, through a realtor? Thanks.
