Parents can't monitor everything their children see or hear on television. While they can shield children from mature content or violence by heeding the rating system implemented by TV networks, undesirable language presents more of a challenge. ProtecTV screens every program's closed-captioning, whether from a TV, VCR or other source, and eliminates words found in the product's library from the sound, and substitutes XXXX's in closed captioning text for them as well. Closed-captioning does not have to be turned on for the product to work. The library contains more than 400 offensive words.

So, here's a solution to a vexing problem facing parents today. How does it work? There's a black box that connects to your TV. As long as a program, VCR tape or DVD contains closed-captioning code, ProtecTV will operate to eliminate the offensive words. You can turn it off, if you really want to hear everything, but you probably won't bother.
